Every Community Has Its Own Character

We do not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Every community along the Front Range has unique soil conditions, microclimates, and neighborhood aesthetics. Here is what makes each area special for native landscaping.

Fort Collins

Home base

Our home — and the heart of our service area. We know Fort Collins soil, microclimates, water regulations, and neighborhoods intimately. From Old Town gardens to Fossil Creek estates, we design for the specific conditions where you live.

Loveland

15 minutes south

Just down I-25 and sharing many of the same growing conditions as Fort Collins. We work throughout Loveland — from established neighborhoods near Lake Loveland to newer developments in the Centerra area. Zone 5b conditions with slightly warmer microclimate in some areas.

Windsor

15 minutes east

Windsor has been booming with new construction, and many homeowners are choosing native landscapes from the start rather than installing traditional bluegrass they will want to replace later. We love working with new builds — it is the best time to get the landscaping right.

Timnath

10 minutes east

Timnath's beautiful estate properties and new developments are ideal for native landscaping. Many homes here have larger lots that benefit from the low-maintenance beauty of native plants. We also do significant holiday decorating work in Timnath's luxury homes.

Wellington

15 minutes north

Wellington is slightly higher and more exposed than Fort Collins, with additional wind considerations. We select extra-hardy native species that can handle the open conditions while still providing stunning year-round beauty. Growing community with lots of potential.

Laporte

10 minutes northwest

Laporte's rural character and larger properties are perfect for naturalistic native landscapes and prairie meadow plantings. We work with the unique foothills transition zone conditions found in this area, selecting species that bridge the plains and mountain ecologies.

Extended Service Area

These communities are slightly outside our core service area, but we take projects here on a case-by-case basis — especially for larger native landscaping and holiday decorating projects.

Greeley

30 minutes from Fort Collins

East of our primary area, but we take projects here on a case-by-case basis. Greeley has similar growing conditions with slightly less precipitation and more wind exposure.

Berthoud

25 minutes from Fort Collins

Between Loveland and Longmont, Berthoud is within reach for the right project. Growing quickly and many homeowners are interested in water-wise native landscapes.

Johnstown

20 minutes from Fort Collins

South of Windsor along I-25, Johnstown has experienced rapid growth. We selectively take projects here, especially larger native landscaping and holiday decorating projects.

Why Local Knowledge Matters

Northern Colorado is not like Denver, and it is definitely not like the coasts. Our growing conditions are unique — alkaline clay soils with pH levels of 7.5 to 8.5, only 15 inches of annual precipitation, elevations around 5,000 feet with intense UV, temperature swings of 50 degrees in a single day, and chinook winds that can desiccate soil and plants in winter.

A plant that thrives in a Boulder garden may struggle in Fort Collins. A design that works in Loveland may need different species choices in Wellington. We understand these nuances because we live here, garden here, and have been studying these conditions through formal horticulture education and years of hands-on experience.

When you work with Native Gardens, you are not getting generic landscaping advice downloaded from a national website. You are getting hyper-local expertise from a CSU-credentialed horticulturist who has grown, tested, and observed hundreds of species in real Northern Colorado conditions.
